Ogden Valley

Three roads provide access to Ogden Valley. Each is a scenic byway. That should be all you need to know.

Home to Eden, Utah and Huntsville, Utah and only an hour north from Salt Lake City. The fundamentals of topography make it sound counter-intuitive to say “up in the valley,” but you’re going to hear that a lot in your travels around Ogden. “Up in the valley,” you’ll find rustic pioneer towns, hundreds of miles of trails, crystal clear trout streams connecting lakes dotted with paddle boarders, wake surfers and kayakers, and stunning mountain views in all directions. You’ll find Pineview Reservoir and the access point to Snowbasin Resort, Powder Mountain and Nordic Valley.

You’ll find the oldest continually operating saloon west of the Mississippi River and one of America’s most recently designated Dark Sky areas. You’ll find everything from small-town pancake breakfasts on holidays to globally broadcast events like the XTERRA Pan-American Championships. You’ll find the bulk of the Ogden Marathon course…also known as Utah’s Spring Run-off…the state’s largest one-day running event and one of Runner’s World magazine’s top-ten races for first time marathoners, due to it’s gentle downhill path.

In addition to the hundreds of those brown and white “Recreational Area” signs that the Department of Transportation places pointing you to Ogden Valley, you’ll know you’re headed the right way when the other signs you’ll see say, “Scenic Byway,” “Avalanche Danger,” “Watch for Snowplows,” “Falling Rock,” and “Narrow Canyon: Pedestrians Not Recommended.” Those signs should let you know that you’re headed toward a wild place.
