Get Cozy This Winter At These Ogden Coffee Shops

Warm up and treat yourself to a delicious hot beverage or dessert at one of Ogden’s local coffee shops!

Posted: 12/02/2022

The temperatures are dropping, and the days are getting shorter. What better way to warm up than a delicious hot beverage from a cozy coffee shop? Luckily Ogden has no short supply of independent coffee and tea shops that serve much more than just lattes

While Ogden, Utah, doesn't break into the top 100 U.S. cities in terms of quantity of coffee consumed, it more than makes up for it in terms of independently owned and operated, eclectic coffee houses. Keep reading to see our favorite local caffeine hubs!

DAILY RISE

"Promoting Positive Energy" is far more than a slogan at this Ogden favorite. It's a way of life that is immediately evident when you place your order. If you exit either of the downtown Daily Rise locations without the staff putting a smile on your face, you should probably make your next stop be your therapist. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the Daily Rise peeps may be the single-greatest endorsement of the product...which is amazing.

Daily Rise sources their raw beans from around the world and roasts their beans locally, so you know you're getting the freshest brews available.

For those on the go, hit Daily Rise Expresso at 2865 Washington Blvd. The double drive-thru and walk-up window will get your java in your hands and headed for the mountains faster than anywhere else. If you're operating at a more leisurely pace, check out their newest location inside Weber State University Downtown at 2314 Washington Blvd. As you wait for your pour-over to steep, you can check out the Wildcat Store for WSU gear, locally made goods, or Apple products.

Whichever location you choose, don't leave without a couple of bottles of their cold brew coffee. A full day of adventure around Ogden can always use a bit more fuel, and their newest flavor, Hoppenin', hits the spot.

GROUNDS FOR COFFEE

Another Ogden favorite with two locations is Grounds for Coffee. The downtown location is ideally located within walking distance of several of our hotels and is typically bustling all day with locals and visitors alike. In addition to a wide variety of coffee, tea, and kombucha, Grounds has plenty of biscuits, scones, and other snackables.

Their 3-season sidewalk seating makes for great people watching and is typically close to one of the street pianos placed on Historic 25th Street by Nurture the Creative Mind during the summer.

Grounds for Coffee on 25th is a great place to start your exploration of the historic downtown area's retail shops, museums, restaurants and bars, and even offers rental cruiser bikes ideal for a ride along the nearby Ogden River Parkway.

For more of a community coffee shop feel, check out the Grounds for Coffee location near Ogden High School at the corner of 30th Street and Harrison Blvd. This location is populated throughout the day by Ogden locals, including Ogden High and Weber State University students. It's a great place to overhear lively conversations about local politics, events, and scores from the latest games.

KAFFE MERCANTILE

Another Ogden coffee house with two locations is Kaffe Mercantile. You'll often hear locals refer to it simply as "the Merc," as in, "Let's meet at the Merc before we hit [Farmers Market, 'Basin, Pow Mow, etc]." The original "Merc" (pictured above) is located just east of Harrison Blvd. on 26th Street and is where piles of Ogden locals start their day.

WASATCH ROASTING COMPANY

Despite the size of the tiny building located at 2436 Grant Ave., it can't be ignored, both in terms of coffee and stunning artwork. The Wasatch Roasting Company building is adorned with some of the most amazing graffiti art anywhere in town. Pull up a seat in "Origin-Alley" just between Wasatch and The Yes Hell and fire off a few epic Instagram pics while you wait for your beverage.

Or step inside and enjoy gallery-style presentation from a rotating selection of local Ogden artists. If you don't make it to their Grant Ave. location, don't worry...Wasatch Roasting is a regular fixture at most major Ogden-area events.

CUPPA

Located in the heart of Ogden's Nine Rails Creative District at 552 25th Street, Cuppa is defined by their commitment to quality, sustainability, and ethical sourcing. True to their surroundings, they are also passionate about Ogden's creative culture...as evidenced by the presence of a grand piano upstairs and abundant artwork throughout.

As you can see, in addition to the countless ways to fill your day in Ogden, there are plenty of ways to start that day right.

Soul City Coffee

If you need to warm up on the go, Soul City Coffee at 3540 Washington Blvd is a drive-up kiosk that won’t disappoint. With friendly employees and an extensive menu of coffee, tea, smoothies, and seasonal drinks, it’s a great spot to stop by on your morning commute or for an afternoon pick-me-up. Next time you need a boost, skip the usual drive-up coffee chains and opt for this tasty local gem.

Coffee Links

The ritual of coffee is just as important as the experience of enjoying that first cup. At least, that’s what the folks at Coffee Links believe. When the shop opened in 2013, the goal was to create a space where people could connect (or form ‘links’) with one another. This Mexican-inspired coffee house is the perfect space to slow down, catch up with friends, and take a break from the chaos. Find this spot at 287 Park Blvd!

The Coffee Compound

On the corner of Grant Avenue, you’ll find the Ogden institution, The Coffee Compound. A husband-wife duo locally owns this charming coffee house, and all their coffee and espresso beans come from a fourth-generation Salt Lake City coffee roaster. You can grab a cup to-go at the drive-thru or sit inside for a leisurely coffee date with friendly service and a family atmosphere.

The Lotus Cafe

Want to extend your moment of zen? Stop by The Lotus Cafe after you finish a yoga session at Buddhi Yoga (formerly Lotus Yoga) inside the Argo House at 529 25th Street. With an extensive menu of coffee, tea, smoothies, juices, sandwiches, and bowls, it’s the perfect healthy option for a post-yoga class. Enjoy a safe, relaxing space as you nourish your body, mind, and soul.

As you can see, in addition to the countless ways to fill your day in Ogden, there are plenty of ways to start that day right.
