Valley House Inn
If you’re looking for a weekend getaway or a peaceful retreat, Valley House Inn offers a unique combination of comfort and history. Built in 1872, this historic home was originally the residence of Lars Magnus Nelson, Huntsville’s first mayor. Later, it became a hotel and restaurant under Matilda Sprague, known as “Aunt Tilly.” Famous for her fried chicken, trout dinners, and hot biscuits, Aunt Tilly entertained guests with stories of her pioneering journey to Utah. Today, Valley House Inn preserves this rich legacy while providing modern amenities and a welcoming atmosphere.
Located in the heart of Huntsville, our bed and breakfast is perfectly situated for both relaxation and adventure. Snowbasin is just 10 minutes away, Nordic Valley 20 minutes, and Powder Mountain 25 minutes, making us an ideal base for ski vacations. Pineview Reservoir is nearby, with Club Rec offering rentals for jet skis, boats, and paddleboards. Guests can also enjoy a nearby park with picnic areas and a playground, or attend events at one of the three wedding venues located on the same block.
Now under new ownership, Valley House Inn has been carefully restored to enhance its charm and functionality. To celebrate, we’re hosting a Grand Opening Event on December 7th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. The event includes a tour of the inn, live music by Huntsville’s own Ben Daniels, and hors d’oeuvres.
