You can find cards, flowers, chocolates, and gifts pretty much anywhere, but the point should really be just spending time with your spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend. Below is a list of 10 unique experiences the two of you can enjoy in and around Ogden.
HIKING/SNOWSHOEING
Ogden’s legendary trails don’t go away in the winter. Most of the popular trails around town are well packed, even after the biggest snowstorms, and can be enjoyed with any decent footwear. Toss a pair of Yaktrax or other traction cleats in your daypack in case you find yourself on shaded sections where the trails tend to ice up a bit.
Higher-elevation trails like Wheeler Creek, Icebox, Green Pond, Coldwater Overlook, or North Fork Park are best explored with snowshoes. If you don’t have your own snowshoes, check out Gear:30 or the Weber State University Outdoor Rec program for rentals.
FAT BIKING
Since being the first community to host the USA Cycling Fat Bike National Championships and the popular Sweaty Yeti Fat Bike Race, Ogden has become a hotbed for fat biking. North Fork Park has developed a groomed trail system specifically for fat bikers and is a must-visit spot.
The pandemic and subsequent supply-chain issues has made it difficult for local bike shops to replenish their rental fleets to their previous levels, but it’s worth checking with The Bike Shoppe, Bingham Cyclery, Skyline Cycle or Diamond Peak for rentals.
SKI/SNOWBOARD
Whether you hit Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, or Nordic Valley, mid-February is the perfect time to enjoy a taste of “The Greatest Snow on Earth.”
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
If you’ve never been out on the skinny sticks, you and your boo should try a classic or skate ski glide around the 15-20 miles of groomed trails that Ogden Nordic maintains at North Fork Park.
INDOOR CLIMBING
Looking for an adventure for two without the colder temperatures? Try a bit of indoor climbing at either The Front or iRock.
DANCING
Dinner and dancing more your speed? Get your tickets now for the Valentines Dinner Dance at the Eccles Conference Center on February 11. Cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at dancing at 7 p.m. Featuring live music from The Crescent Super Band and The Voodoo Orchestra of Soundhouse. $90 per couple.
CRAFT COCKTAILS/BEER
Any Valentine weekend should include a taste of Ogden’s legendary libations. Sample locally crafted beers at Roosters, UTOG, or Talisman Brewing. If you’re more in the mood for artisan cocktails made from locally distilled spirits, you simply cannot miss Sidebar at Ogden’s Own Distillery.
SPA/WELLNESS
Nothing says you want to spend a lifetime with your significant other quite like a wellness retreat. A bit of yoga, a couples’ massage, or a treatment at a day spa are easily found in Ogden. Click here to explore options.
DINING

STARGAZING
Head to Ogden Valley, just minutes from downtown Ogden, where the Wasatch range creates a giant shield from the urban light pollution generated by the populated Wasatch Front and explore the far reaches of deep space. Guests at Compass Rose Lodge can take advantage of their unique observatory and scour the heavens for distant galaxies and nebulae, but even amateur astronomers can enjoy the fully visible Milky Way and dozens of constellations visible from the North Fork Dark Sky Park with nothing more than the naked eye or perhaps a pair of binoculars.
Go ahead…make a wish upon a star (or a few million) with your love.
