Long, long ago before I learned how to snowboard I disliked winter (gasp!) Back then the cold weather just seemed to be against me.

My toes were always frozen, I was stuck inside for months, and when February came around it wasn’t a new Valentine I wished for, it was that famous groundhog, Punxatawny Phil, would not see his shadow and an early spring would head our way.
Then I moved to Ogden, Utah and my life changed. I decided to take a Beginner Snowboarding class at Weber State University. The class started in January and took me up to Powder Mountain and to some of the best lessons a beginner could ask for. After a bit of falling and coaxing from my coach, I took my first turns and was hooked. The next winter I got my first season pass to Nordic Valley. Nowadays, if you’re fast enough you can see me pointing down the Super G at Snowbasin Resort.
Get on the slopes! All three of Ogden Valley’s resorts offer some of the most proactive ski and snowboard instructors around. Many of them moved here for the snow, some are locals, and they are all eager to teach you something new. You can find everything you need to start skiing or snowboarding at each resort and the best part…it’s affordable!
Snowbasin Resort has the best beginner package in town. To celebrate this month of learning, Snowbasin is offering a beginner package for just $169! The unbelievably low price includes rentals, lessons, and a lift ticket on Littlecat! They also offer terrain based learning, adaptive sports lessons and anything that fits your style.
Powder Mountain offers everything you need to start skiing or snowboarding. For $135 you will get rentals, lift pass, and three hours of instruction. They also offer women’s specific clinics, snowboard specific lessons and everything in-between!
Nordic Valley also offers a complete learning package that includes a lift ticket, group lesson and rental all for $79! For parents who are in need of day care, Nordic Valley offers a full-day child lesson. They also take care of corporate groups, private lessons, and much more!
