A Beer Lover's Guide to Ogden
From early breweries and a lively speakeasy scene to the craft brewery resurgence of the mid-1990s, Ogden has been a hot spot for beer lovers throughout the centuries. Home to a diverse range of breweries, one thing has remained true through the years: Ogden is a beer-lover’s paradise.
With a smaller population, Ogden has long played the underdog in Utah's beer scene. But for those looking for locally brewed beer sold by local business owners, smaller crowds than what you can find in big cities, and a town teeming with personality, Ogden is the place for you.
Here's a diverse range of ways to experience Ogden's beer scene!
1. Rooster's Brewing Company and Restaurant
Taking the crown for one of Utah's oldest modern-day breweries, Rooster’s is a perfect choice for beer enthusiasts and foodies alike. Rooster’s offers a unique variety of beers, including but not limited to a honey wheat blend, a blackberry cream ale and Rude Ram Red Ale. With multiple locations, including one in Ogden, their wide selection of unique beers is available to countless individuals.
The Roosters B Street location operates as a bar, unlike the other locations. As long as they're not busy, the B Street staff will give tours of the brewery. It even offers patio seating, a perfect way for customers to soak up the sun while getting their suds on!
2. Talisman Brewing Company
For those looking to support a veteran-owned and Ogden-made brewery, Talisman Brewing Company is the place to go. Offering a variety of pints, flights and pitchers, there are plenty of opportunities to sample and savor their vast variety of beers, including their award-winning “Comin in Hopindia Pale Ale.
Founded in 2016, Talisman became Ogden’s first production-only brewery to operate without a restaurant attached. Since then, it’s paved the way for a wave of new breweries throughout the city.
3. UTOG Brewing
This brewery was opened in 2019 by a former pilot and award-winning homebrewer. UTOG Brewing is a perfect place for beer lovers to visit in Ogden. Offering an extensive variety of beers on tap and from a can, they continue making new blends and regularly release teasers about them to keep visitors excited.
UTOG Brewing has patio seating that sits right along the fenceline of the Ogden Raptors' stadium. It's a perfect place to catch the ball game while enjoying the delicious selection of beers from the brewery.

Located along the scenic Ogden River Parkway, Ogden Beer Company offers a fun and unique atmosphere for newcomers and beer enthusiasts alike. It features a riverside patio for all ages, a dog-friendly area and a 21+ patio upstairs. The brewery offers a selection of delicious American brewpub-style dishes. Whether you're enjoying a custom beer flight or savoring a meal from their diverse menu, Ogden Beer Company provides a unique and inviting experience for all visitors.
5. The Ogden Beer Festival
Ogden celebrates beer in more ways than just being home to a vast number of breweries. The Ogden Beer Fest is a premier celebration for beer lovers. Although the festival is targeted to beer enthusiasts, there will be more offered than just an exceptional lineup of craft breweries; Spirits, ciders, food, entertainment and artist studios will also be available.
Last year’s crowd favorite and people's choice award winner was Proper Brewing Co. They took home the win with their creation, Proper 'Noon Tea—a nod to the kind of inventive brews you can expect to sample.
The price of general admission is $25, and included with that is event entry, a commemorative sample cup and five sample tokens. Additional sample pours are available both for pre-purchase and on-site.
6. Go on Tour
The Bites and Brews food tour is a great way to sample the latest local microbrews and elevated pub grub. For $65, you’ll get access to some of Ogden’s must-try spots like Slackwater, UTOG Brewing Company and Roosters, as well as a look into the history of the town.
For those looking to cut the path on their own, start the journey on Historic 25th Street, which is a condensed avenue for breweries and distilleries, and hop from one business to the next. Each brewery has a vastly different but equally amazing atmosphere. There will be an endless variety of beers to try, and spirits and cocktails are available at most locations for those not interested in the beer scene.
You can spend as much or as little time at each brewery, depending on the number of beers you’d like to sample. When the hunger starts to creep in, don’t forget to check out nearby food and bar spots like Rooster’s, City Club, Angry Goat, and Harp and Hound.
