Snowbasin Resort Fires Up the Snow Guns
Snowbasin, UT – November 7, 2017 – Snowbasin Resort fired up the snow guns this morning, November 7th. Snowbasin plans to open weather and conditions permitting on Wednesday, November 22nd.
Once the lifts start spinning guests will enjoy all of the improvements made for this upcoming season. Snowbasin replaced the old Wildcat triple with a new high-speed detachable 6-pack and added snowmaking in the Wildcat area. The chairlift ride will be only 5 minutes and rises over 1,290 vertical feet. The additional snowmaking will allow Snowbasin to utilize the terrain more frequently and earlier in the season. Terrain serviced by this lift is a great stepping stone for the beginner and intermediate skier/rider who graduates from Becker terrain before heading to Needles Gondola. Furthermore the Wildcat pod is a great contained race venue, which will create a better experience for the racers and the day guest visitor.
The other on-mountain upgrade is the rebranding of the terrain parks. With the new Wildcat Express there will be top to bottom terrain park access from just one lift. This enables quick laps that are centered around the parks. The ‘Basin Parks’ will have small and medium features for our continued focus on family-friendly offerings. The small features will be towards the top and the progression will flow with gravity down the hill. It is a great place for someone to learn, gain confidence, and progress their park riding skills. Basin Parks will have a variety of features between rails and jumps and change throughout the season.
Plus, Snowbasin is the newest addition to the Mountain Collective Pass. Snowbasin is excited to join their sister resort, Sun Valley, and the other 14 dream destinations around the world, including Aspen Snowmass, Banff Sunshine, Coronet Peak | The Remarkables, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Lake Louise, Mammoth Mountain, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Sugarbush Resort, Sun Valley, Taos Ski Valley, Telluride Ski Resort, and Thredbo Alpine Village, Snowbird and Alta. Mountain Collective passholders will receive 2 days at each of these resorts, which means a passholder gets 6 days in between the three Utah resorts, Alta, Snowbird and Snowbasin.
Lastly, Snowbasin is expanding their Snowsports offerings for adults. For the local women who want to improve their skiing with other women, check out Snowbasin’s Divas on Snow Program. For just $299, the guest receives 3 coaching sessions and early VIP access to Needles Gondola or Wildcat Chairlift. With the early load, the workshops will run 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. There are 2 sessions, one on Thursdays in January and one on Saturdays in February. On the last day of the workshop a luncheon is included to celebrate all you have experienced. If an adult is looking for shorter programs, they should check out the new steeps camp, which is three days skiing the steeps of Snowbasin Resort, host of the speed events in the 2002 winter Olympic games. Snowbasin is the ideal location to learn tactics and techniques of steep mountain big skiing. A women’s specific camp will also be offered, coached by all women and offering an opportunity to learn and mingle in a beautiful mountain environment. Additionally, if a guest wants to learn to navigate the mountain like a pro, they can sign up for a Peak-to-Peak tour-where instructors will be your guide to the secret stashes and the best terrain. Moreover, if guests want to book a private lesson on the weekends for themselves and their 4 closest friends, they will have early access to the gondola/chairlift from 8:00 am -9:00 am before Snowbasin opens to the public.
