Eventful 2014 Summer Season Set for Ogden, Utah

OGDEN, Utah (June 2014) - School is out, temperatures are rising and Ogden is prepared for a lively summer. Festivals, concerts, athletic events and celebrations are slated from June until September.

The Visit Ogden Team will welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors this summer with more than seven large events and several ongoing weekly and monthly happenings. Each Saturday Farmers and Art Market will fill the Ogden Municipal Gardens from July 12 to September 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ogden Amphitheater has a full schedule of concerts as well as the free Monday Night movies, free Wednesday Tunes at Noon and Talent in the Park at 8 p.m. A First Friday Art Stroll takes place in the downtown Ogden district from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first Friday of each month.

The year’s summer event season highlights include:

• Hill Air Force Base Air Show and Open House, June 28 & 29
The “Warriors Over the Wasatch” Open House and Air Show will feature the Thunderbirds and Golden Knights. The show consists of world-class acts, 11 aerobatic demonstrations, a heritage aircraft flight, Red Bull precision Jump Team, a jet powered car and pyrotechnics display. The event features a wide variety of military static aircraft including remotely piloted aircraft, helicopters, fighters, bombers, large cargo transports and refuelers. www.hill.af.mil/warriorsoverth...

• Ogden Arts Festival, June 13 & 14
The Ogden Arts Festival officially kicks-off summer events in downtown Ogden. The Festival features more than forty regionally juried fine artists’ books, live music, wandering performers, fun free kids ARTivities, interactive art and performances, Plein Air Competition and silent auction. • Ogden Pioneer Days
Held each year over the July 24th weekend, Utah’s official state holiday, Ogden Pioneer Days is one of Utah’s largest celebrations with more than 30,000 people collectively in attendance. There are five nights of PRCA rodeo entertainment at the Pioneer Stadium; a Lindquist family pops concert and fireworks at Weber State University and more. Ogdenpioneerdays.com

• Tour of Utah, August 7
This year the Tour of Utah returns to Ogden for the Stage Four start. This is Ogden’s sixth time in the event’s 10-year history. Cyclist will race to Powder Mountain for the finish of the fourth stage. www.tourofutah.com/venues/ogde...

• Ogden Valley Balloon Festival, August 15-17
Picture a clear morning with the serene backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains and 25 colorful hot air balloons launching into the sky. The Ogden Valley Balloon Festival offers fun for the whole family with balloon launches, arts and crafts, booths, live entertainment, barbecue, the popular balloon glow and more. • Ogden Temple Open House, August 1 - September 6
The general public, including children of all ages, is invited to attend an open house of the newly remodeled Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Ogden Utah Temple. • USA Cycling Masters Road National Championship, September 3-7
After a three-year stint in Oregon, the USA Cycling Masters Road National Championship moves to Ogden for 2014. Riders from across the country will travel to northern Utah seeking to add a Stars-and-Stripes jersey to their closet. Follow the road race, time trial and criterium competitions. • Harvest Moon Celebration, Sept 20
The thirteenth annual Harvest Moon Celebration, one of Northern Utah’s largest outdoor festival with more than 24,000 people in attendance. • XTERRA USA Championships, Sept 20-21
Two days, two national championship events at one destination. Snowbasin Resort and Ogden are transformed into XTERRA Title Town USA for the fourth year-in-a-row. An estimated 1,500 of the nation’s best amateur and professional triathletes and trail runners will compete in the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship and the XTERRA USA Championship off-road triathlon.
