Ever wondered why the flowers of a pumpkin and a cucumber look alike? Or how squash and watermelon vines grow the same way? It is because they are all members of the same plant family, the Gourd family, or Cucurbitaceae. Join us for this botany themed Wild Wednesday as we explore the fascinating family of cucurbits and learn about how they became part of a Halloween tradition.
Class begins promptly at 3:45. This 20 minute program led by a teacher/naturalist may be followed by free time on your own to further explore the Nature Center grounds. Please note that the trails and Visitor Center close by 5pm.
