Wild Wednesdays: Alien Invasion!

Join an ONC teacher/naturalist and discover what species of plants and animals don’t belong on the Nature Center property and how they got here. Wear work clothes and bring a pair of gloves to help us get rid of some of our alien invaders.  Program will highlight some scout requirements. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Help us celebrate Father’s Day by learning outstanding and crazy facts about fathers in nature. From the seahorse that goes through contractions at birth, to some frogs that keep their baby tadpoles in their mouths for safety, come learn about all kinds of animal dads. Come celebrate the summer solstice at the Ogden Nature Center.  Find out why some days are longer than others. With the help of a few live animals, discover how animals and plants, including us, adjust to the long days of summer. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Wild Wednesdays: Who’s a Buteo

Meet Sampson, the  Ogden Nature Center’s Red-tail Hawk and Jay, the Harris Hawk while discovering what makes a buteo a buteo.  Observe firsthand how buteos differ from all other raptors.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.


The Ogden Nature Center is offering free admission and activities on Saturdays during the summer, June 4 – August 20 

Activities are led by a naturalist and will be held at 10 am and 1 pm every Saturday. Activities will include guided nature walks, live animal presentations, games, creative nature crafts and more. Just show up and have fun! Please check in at the Visitor Center front desk.

June 4    Ice Cream Cone Gardening - Kids will enjoy some gardening...with a twist!  All participants will learn about a clever and biodegradable way to start plants from seeds.  All gardening supplies will be provided.  

June 11    Meet and Greet with Snakes - Learn about one of our friendly snakes up close and personal.   Discover ways to identify a venomous vs. non-venomous snake.  Kids will enjoy making a fun snake craft.

June 18     Nature Sun Catcher - Transport nature finds into your favorite window space.

June 25   Birding and Nature Walk - Learn how to spot birds while enjoying a short hike using our kid-friendly field guides.  Kids will have fun making a take-home bird craft.

Outdoor concerts at the Ogden Nature Center combine an unrivaled outdoor setting with fresh, talented musicians!  Held in the glen behind the rustic Visitor Center, these summer evenings will find you lounging on a picnic blanket, toes in the grass, sunset in the late summer sky, tapping away to some amazing, live music.

Bring your family and friends, a picnic dinner, drinks, low-rise chairs or a blanket, and enjoy an outdoor concert at the Ogden Nature Center.

The Barefoot Movement – June 9th, 7 pm
Tickets are $18 for adults / $10 for children 12 and under

The Ogden Nature Center welcomes The Barefoot Movement to Ogden in true O-town style! Heartfelt, energetic, and down home. Heralded as “one of the most promising bands on the bluegrass scene,” this Nashville based group is as down to earth as their intention.  Sit back, relax, take your shoes off, and stay a while.  All the worries and frustrations of the world melt away as this charming, acoustic band takes listeners back to a simpler place and time.
